POSITION TITLE:                Strategic Procurement Specialist

PAY GRADE:                       Band 4

DEPARTMENT:                  Purchasing (310)

REPORTS TO:                      Materials Manager

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigates and develops sources of supply, whether for new scope or new Suppliers
  • Develops and maintains supplier relationships
  • Owns the relationship of key Supplier / Commodity pairs
  • Initiates, negotiates, and maintains Supplier Long Term Agreements and Contracts
  • Lead for Supplier Performance Evaluation and Management
  • Responsible for ongoing cost reduction (total cost of acquisition) goals
  • Issues and analyses RFQs, RFI’s, RFP’s
  • Evaluates the best source and negotiates terms and conditions of orders in accordance with Colt Canada policies, procedures, and related regulations
  • Issues and maintains purchase orders
  • Follow-up with vendors, suppliers, and internal Colt Canada customers, resolving outstanding issues as required
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by department manager or designate

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada
  • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information
  • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures
  • Ensures confidentiality of Company information
  • Stays up-to-date on, and adheres to all ISO9001 policies and procedures
  • Meet service standards and expectations for internal and external customers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Engineering Technology or Business, or equivalent in work experience
  • SCMP an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of supply chain experience required in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge f manufacturing methods and procedures, preferably in metals and complex machining
  • Able to interpret engineering designs
  • Proven ability to negotiate while maintaining key relationships
  • Able to work independently to solve problems
  • Ability to understand and analyse complex documents
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with ERP (Epicor an asset) and MS Office
  • Able to communicate professionally with internal and external customers at all levels of an organization
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Experience working with the regulation of controlled goods is an asset

  • External – vendors, suppliers, industry groups

WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Office environment – long periods of sitting, keyboarding, problem solving, and negotiation
  • Manufacturing Environment (PPE Required) – < 10% time in manufacturing environment
  • Travel – up to 30% domestic travel may be required
