POSITION TITLE: Product Support Technologist
DEPARTMENT: Product Support Engineering
REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and modify 3D parametric solid models using Solidworks including:
- Individual parts and assemblies up to 300 parts.
- Complex geometry with associative patterns / dimensions
- Formula and parametric driven features
- Validate fits and interferences
- Creation of models from vendor samples
- Prepare and update 2D detail drawings:
- Ensure compliance with ASME Y14.5-2009 drawing standards
- Application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Apply material, coating, heat-treat and process notes as applicable
- Verify Bill of Materials for accuracy and availability
- Process redline updates to drawings with changes in revisions and file registered copies
- Prepare and update Engineering Change Request (ECR) documentation based on input from engineers using PDM
- Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management and revision control software
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada
- Maintenance of secure and confidential company information
- Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent
- SolidWorks experience – applicable co-op experience will be considered
- Experience with Mechanical design and assemblies is preferred
- Experience with GD&T is an asset
- Word Processing and Spreadsheet experience (MS Office) required

- Internal – Engineering, Document Control, Production, Toolroom personnel, Operations
- External – 3rd party vendors and some customer communication
WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Office environment – extensive hours sitting, typing and concentration
- Manufacturing Environment (PPE Required) – less than 5% of time spent in the manufacturing environment
