POSITION TITLE:                Materials Logistics Specialist

PAY GRADE:                       3

DEPARTMENT:                  Purchasing

REPORTS TO:                    Materials Manager

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and investigate sources of supply, independently and with assistance from the Senior Buyer, Strategic Procurement, and Management
  • Issues and analyses RFQs
  • Issues and signs-off on purchase orders
  • Arrange for overseas transportation (imports and exports)
  • Prepare, and maintain records of, all customs papers, reports, and permit requests
  • Act as liaison for Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders (imports and exports)
  • Audit transportation and brokerage invoices
  • Follow-up with vendors, suppliers, and internal Colt Canada customers to resolve outstanding issues as required
  • Advise management and the requester of changes in delivery and/or price
  • Expedite orders as required
  • Maintain purchase order files per Quality Procedures
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Timely and accurate entry of requisitions/applications for shipping permits
  • Sign and place orders for all approve requisitions
  • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada
  • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information
  • Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or diploma in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or other related field
  • 1 to 3 years’ customs experience
  • 1 to 3 years Purchasing experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer oriented
  • Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities
  • Proactive, able to identify and suggest solutions to problems
  • Work with minimal supervision

 

CONTACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Internal – all departments, employees at all levels of the organization
  • External – brokers, suppliers, Export Control of Government of Canada

 

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Office environment – extended periods of sitting/computer use
  • Occasional work in a manufacturing environment – PPE is required

INTERNAL TRAINING NEEDS:

  • Epicor/ERP
  • Controlled Goods Standards
  • Email, phone, and network systems (e.g. scanning documents)
  • A. Manual (Purchasing and other related procedures and work instructions)
