POSITION TITLE:               Manufacturing Engineering Technologist

STARTING SALARY:         $50,000.00/year

DEPARTMENT:                  120 – Manufacturing Engineering

REPORTS TO:                     ME Supervisor

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Document manufacturing processes via work instructions and operational detail sheets
  • Create visual work instructions using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Composer
  • Assist in determining and monitoring process cycle times
  • Provide support for the implementation of lean initiatives
  • Assist in planning and coordinating plant layout
  • Support continuous improvement objectives
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada
  • Maintenance of secure and confidential company information
  • To ensure all policies, procedures and ISO 9001 regulations pertaining to your duties are complied with
  • To ensure co-workers and you are working in a safe manner following all Health & Safety policies and to report all unsafe conditions to your supervisor

QUALIFICATONS:

  • College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering Technologist role
  • Must be able to obtain Controlled Goods Program clearance, Enhance Reliability Status, and a Restricted Possession and Acquisition License
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience developing detailed tool drawings utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Proficiency in the use of 3D parametric solid modelling, CAD packages, preferably Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of MasterCAM
  • Proficient with CAD/CAM systems
  • SolidWorks composer experience preferred
  • Experience utilizing lean manufacturing principles (Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kanban, and poka-yoke)
  • Experience working in an ISO certified environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • An exceptional team player with experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team

WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Office environment – specify activities (programming, drafting, sitting, problem solving, analysis)
  • Manufacturing Environment (PPE Required) – Periodic loading and unloading of CNC fixturing lifting (approx. 25 lbs), sitting 60% of time while standing 40%, safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection
