POSITION TITLE: CNC Operator
PAY GRADE: Starting at $22/hour depending on experience
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing (100)
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Days (7am – 3pm) or Afternoons (3pm – 11pm)
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates CNC mills or lathes to close tolerances
- Measures and checks parts for surface roughness and geometric parameter conformance
- Performs set up using pre-established programs
- Selects and changes tools
- Edits programs as instructed
- Enters and checks offsets
- Basic machine maintenance
- Cross train on CNC lathes and conventional machines as required
- Other duties as assigned
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada
- Maintenance of secure and confidential company information
- Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma
- Machinist certification an asset; but not required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a CNC Operator in a metal fabrication environment, manufacturing parts with tight tolerances
- Experience working in an ISO certified environment
CONTACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS:
- Internal – All department and personnel, specifically Supervisor, Lead Hands, Machine Operators, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Control etc.
- External – Auditors, suppliers
WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Manufacturing/machine shop environment – PPE required (glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection)
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Able to complete repetitive tasks (loading/unloading machines, moving materials and completed parts etc.)
